How to Install Microsoft Office
Installing Microsoft Office Business ensures access to essential productivity tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Follow this step-by-step guide to install Microsoft Office Business on your Windows computer.
Prerequisites
Before starting the installation, ensure you have:
- A Microsoft 365 Business account: Ensure you have an active subscription.
- Your login credentials: Email address and password associated with your Microsoft 365 account.
- Stable internet connection: A reliable connection is necessary for downloading and activating Office.
- Administrative privileges: You must have admin rights on the computer to install software.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Portal
- Open a web browser and visit the Microsoft 365 Portal.
- Log in using your Microsoft 365 Business credentials.
2. Download the Office Installer
- Once logged in, click on Install Office in the top-right corner.
- Select Microsoft 365 apps from the dropdown menu.
- The Office installer (
Setup.exe) will download to your computer.
3. Run the Office Installer
- Locate the downloaded installer file in your browser’s downloads section or the Downloads folder on your PC.
- Double-click the file to launch the installation.
- If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click Yes to allow the installation.
4. Install Office
- The installation process will begin automatically, and you’ll see a progress window.
- Wait for the installation to complete. This may take a few minutes depending on your internet speed.
5. Activate Microsoft Office
- Once the installation is complete, open any Office application (e.g., Word or Excel).
- You will be prompted to sign in. Use the same Microsoft 365 Business credentials you used earlier.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to activate your subscription.
Customisation Options
Choose Office Apps to Install (Optional)
Microsoft 365 Business installs the full suite of Office apps by default. If you want to install specific apps:
- During the installation process, choose Customise Installation.
- Select or deselect the apps based on your needs.
Troubleshooting
Installation Stuck or Fails
- Check your internet connection and restart the installer.
- Ensure your computer meets the system requirements.
